How To Give Your Home Theater Guests Comfortable Seating

Many people overlook home theater seating when they start spending their hard-earned money to buy themselves a new home theater system for the enjoyment of family and friends. Movies are meant to be enjoyed, but if you’re sitting down for two to three hours in poor quality seating, then that could cause some great discomfort, especially if the movie turns out to be boring.

Don’t buy chairs for your entertainment room that remind people about how it feels to sit on rock-hard concrete. As we mentioned, cinematic turkeys become even worse when you’re sitting down on a bad chair. If the chairs you buy are too hard, then expect your rear end to be in pain afterwards. If you choose chairs that are too soft, you risk back or neck pain.

Some people select a room they know will be their permanent home theater viewing room so they hire an installer or do it themselves and bolt the chairs in. Don’t ever fall into this trap.

The only time you’ll know that the seating is at an ideal place is if you’ve sat on them for some time. If you eventually realize that the installers bolted down your chairs at the wrong place, then you’ll have to reposition them and undo the changes yourself. Worse, those holes in your flooring will have to be fixed by you yourself – you made your bed, now lie in it.

You can opt for stadium seating – and some people do. In some cases, the bottom part of the chair would be wider than the top, but in most seats of this type, they fold up and down like the seats in a movie theater. Some people think these seats are very comfortable, while others abhor the look and feel. Put comfort at a premium if you should go for stadium seating, and shop for the best brand and best quality available.

The most popular type of home theater seating option is the loungers. They come in several colors and designs, and the headrests are especially useful if you wish to recline back and enjoy the movie.

If you wish to go beyond the ordinary loungers, you can opt for motorized recliners. Loungers are large and top of the line. And you can arrange them either in a semi circle or straight line. You can expect to pay anywhere from just below five hundred dollars to over three thousand.

Give the seating a quick road test before buying them, so you could be sure they feel just right. Start by pretending you are actually relaxing and watching a movie. Also ask yourself if your home’s temperature wouldn’t be harmful to the seating. What if you’re wearing shorts on a hot summer day – will the material stick to the back of your legs? Does the material make a sound when you shift around in the seat?

When buying loungers you will want to think in terms of extras in well. Do they come with cup holders? Or what about built in coolers for your drink? Can you get a massage if you need one? Your guests would enjoy these amenities if available.
