The ideas for the camera are rooted in early Chinese and Greek history. The first photography was attempted by viewing images through some kind of pin-hole device.

The very notion of such an instrument was considered to be a theological concept and inspired from the belief of Divine power. The present day Digital Camera is a descendent of its countless ancestral cameras.

When cameras were first invented, nobody gave a lot of thought to carrying them around. The pin hole version was the first model and after that the devices kept developing. But they were often large and ungainly because, after all, everyone realized that a person sized image was what was going to be captured with it.

In this camera, a static picture was taken by making the best use of available natural elements, and thus the required lighting was effectively created so as to click a picture via the pin-point device. After that, the person whose picture was clicked was displayed on the screen. And this image was manually printed on the then available resources.

This kind of camera was surely not meant for professional use; it was just an interesting creation. But latter, a much developed version of portable camera was introduced. The creative enthusiasts of that period then enhanced some features, already existing in previous cameras and made use of darkening chemicals. But, this characteristic of chemicals darkening was revealed when exposed to necessary light required to see the photograph.

The discovery of a substance like gelatin that could allow the images to set and stay permanently was a big leap in the evolution of cameras. But there needed to be a quickness of response to go with this new material and imaging, so a mechanical shutter was invented that could easily be triggered to capture the image desired.

The camera was really only the camera we would recognize as a camera today once the first form of film was invented. This was in the nineteenth century and was shaped like a block. It was black and had the same capacity to capture images that would be found in later cameras that we would consider to be much more sophisticated in design.

As the evolution of cameras continued throughout the years, there began to be more different kinds and models to select from, depending upon what you needed it for. Today we have the latest evolution of the device, which is the digital camera. It not only takes pictures but can also take videos very easily and it can take still photos or videos and upload them into a computer or other device so that they can be stored safely and perhaps be shared with others.

For knowledge information on this, check out this website.

Being able to capture images brought the idea of the camera into existence.
