Keeping up with all the new gadgets lately can be tough, this guide is for you if you’re thinking about buying an MP3 Player for your child or grandchild. The market is flooded with mp3 players that are small and easy to use, but not many that are truly simple and durable enough to serve as a young kids mp3 player. Many of the players that are marketed for little ones are very low quality devices that you’ll want to avoid. Many come with headphones while others don’t, the range of storage space available on these devices is huge, and the cost range is just as big and doesn’t always have a direct correlation to quality. This is a situation where grandparents may be able to use some advice on the best choice and what should be looked at. In other words – HELP!
Different factors and features should be considered based on the age of the youngster you’re purchasing for. There are features on some of the players that would be more appropriate as an mp3 player for teens. Older kids would love them but a young kid’s mp3 player needs to be simple. Getting a very simple and easy to use MP3 Player is critical for younger kids. Children are quick learners when it comes to technology but for very young kids remember that someone will need to help them operate the player most of the time. So stick to something simple and everything will be easier.
Beyond features and ease of use we must also consider the cost of course. They do have mp3 players for kids that start at $100 per player, but it’s not necessary to spend that much on a suitable mp3 player for a 5 or 6 year old. However, you are in luck because some are priced from $25 and up. You have to be careful though, if you get something too cheaply built it won’t have a chance of lasting even a year with many kids. Any player you get a kid is going to be dropped at some point, so durability is a hugely important factor to consider. Therefore, do not buy an mp3 player that is very expensive or has a glass screen.
Something else to consider is whether the player needs to be charged or runs on batteries. Younger, and even some older children are going to be prone to forgetting to turn the player off, so if it takes batteries it could run down often. Something with a long battery life would certainly improve that. Also a feature that automatically shuts the player off after a while of disuse can help a lot.
Don’t get worried though, there are plenty of options that meet these criteria.
