As you’re looking to study to get an MCSE, it’s likely you’ll come into one of two categories. Corporate based study (in industry terminology) is more effective in the commercial field. The IT sector has acknowledged that a specialist skill-set is what’s needed to handle a technically advancing workplace. Adobe, Microsoft, CISCO and CompTIA are the big boys in this field.

In simple terms: Authorised IT qualifications let employers know exactly what you’re capable of – it says what you do in the title: i.e. I am a ‘Microsoft Certified Professional’ in ‘Managing and Maintaining Windows Server 2003’. So companies can look at their needs and what certifications are required to perform the job.
Each programme of learning really needs to work up to a nationally (or globally) recognised exam at the finale – not some little ‘in-house’ diploma – fit only for filing away and forgetting.
Only fully recognised examinations from the top companies like Microsoft, Adobe, CompTIA and Cisco will mean anything to employers.
