There’s no other way to look at it; my friend is a serious party animal. He’s a decent hearted individual and is probably one of the most trusting and best friends I’ve ever had but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t come with his own faults. Heck we all do. He just so happens to enjoy getting stumbling drunk every so often. And unfortunately, it’s his cell phones that suffer. I continuously try to get him to buy an iPhone case but to no avail. He says it’s a waste of money I guess. But every other week something else is happening to his newest cell phone.
With this week being more of the same we got together on Friday. After a strenuous day I was prepared to appreciate my free time hanging out on the couch. My friend called me and I could tell he was in party mode. Sometimes if he’s partying too hard by the time we talk I’ll just tell him I have other plans or I’m going to bed because he can get annoying.
It was an average night of playing dollar games of Rummy 500 while sifting through random music on my computer. We had a couple of other people stop in and out throughout the night but it was nothing crazy.
By around sometime after 12 o’clock we were ready to call it a night. He had smoked all of his cigarettes and he had just a beer or two left. Having been pouring each beer into an ice filled cup instead of drinking it right out of the can, he was going to finish his last cup and crash on the couch. Being increasingly inebriated, he frivolously tossed his cell phone into the air. Like Frank Costanza’s million to one shot, the phone landed directly into is cup of beer and shut off. It was his first iPhone that he had ruined. The next day he had to waste more money on a brand new one and he still didn’t get a case. I pushed for him to finally buy one but he still resisted. I know if he had case along with a screen protector it would’ve stood a great chance being dunked in beer.
