Exploring Male Hair Loss Treatments

For men, losing your hair can be an extremely devastating event, no matter how trivial it actually is. A full head of hair is often associated with a man’s youth and energy. Although this generally happens to individuals who have advanced in age, it can occur even before the age of twenty. Many men turn to male hair loss treatments for relief.

Despite the false proclamations of commercials and advertisements for products claiming a solution, there is no real cure for baldness. Although there is not a universal solution, there are some treatments and ideas with potential results that might work for you.

It is very difficult to watch a ball game or a television show without, at some point, seeing a commercial for a pill that will cure baldness. Baldness is usually caused by the metabolite dihydrotestosterone, or DHT. Many pills are designed to stop the DHT from thinning the hair. Although they may not stop or reverse balding, many have gotten results from these pills, so they may be worth a look.

Surgery is a less common solution, with varying results. Many individuals decide to undergo a hair transplant. With this method, a surgeon will remove some very small plugs of your hair from the sides and back of the scalp. They will then transplant them into the balding or thinning areas. This is a long process that can take several months to get results.

Many men are choosing to deal with baldness through less dramatic means. They often choose hair pieces, which are becoming very realistic. Others take focus off of the thinning or baldness through fashionable hats, clothes, and other attire which will boost confidence and take the focus off of the problem area. Maintaining well groomed facial hair and taking care of the skin is a great way to lessen the burden by keeping confidence high.

Perhaps one day there will actually be a real cure for baldness. That day doesn’t appear to be coming anytime soon. There are plenty of other options to explore which can lessen the embarrassment of going bald.
