Taking A Closer Look At Popular Home Theater Systems

Thursday, April 25th, 2013

When it comes to buying a home theater system, there is no shortage of options to choose from. In fact, the choices available can be bewildering. Here, we will look at the Panasonic SC-XH170 DVD Home Theater System, as well as two other systems, which are just three of the many options on the market.

The three systems we looked at have the same basic setup. All of them use five speakers, consisting of a subwoofer, one front speaker, two surround speakers and two central speakers. They are all 5.1 channel home theater systems, and use Blu-ray players.

This is a superb system given all the built-in features it contains and the retail price. You can be the proud owner of the Panasonic SC-XH170 Home Theater System for around $175. There is a built-in USB connector for iPods and iPhones.

The SC-XH170 ships with Viera technology. This means it can connect to other electronic items that also include Viera technology, including camcorders, mobile devices and digital cameras. The total sound output from the SC-XH170 is a very impressive 1000 watts.

The system has an automatic sound equalizer, which eliminates those annoying volume increases during advertising breaks. Color coded wiring makes it easy to set the whole system up. Sound quality is excellent for the price.

There is not a lot to complain about with this system. It does not support wifi, which some people will find a nuisance.

The Yamaha YHT-897 Home Theater System is the most expensive of the three systems we looked at. Retailing at around $750, it is not going to appeal to people on a fairly limited budget. Its appearance is the most stylish of the systems, and it does come with technology not available on the others.

The system features Yamaha’s proprietary AirPlay technology. AirPlay permits the direct streaming to the system of sound and images from numerous other devices such as iPads, Android devices and PCs. The YHT-897’s automatic sound configuration option will appeal to many. Acoustics are analyzed automatically and sound configurations set accordingly.

The subwoofer in this system is just 100 watts. This is probably fine for watching movies, but not brilliant for playing music with prominent bass.

The Samsung HT-E3500 is the most basic system reviewed in terms of features provided. This is evident in Samsung’s own description of the product, which is quite muted. The company provides only barebones information about the system. It does not state what devices can connect to the system through its USB.

Priced at around $215, the system offers reasonable value for money. Sound reproduction is of good quality. The Samsung HT-E3500 Blu-ray Home Theater System is very easy to set up.

The cables for attaching the speakers are very short, and this severely restricts how they can be placed. Outputting just 500 watts, the HT-E3500 is not terribly powerful.

Of the three products reviewed, the Samsung would have to be the lowest rated. It is more expensive then the Panasonic, yet has fewer features and lower output. The Yamaha system is very good, and has some future proofing built in, but the key question is whether it is worth spending almost five times more on this than on the Panasonic.

Comparing Name-Brand Home Theater Systems

Bringing the theater feel into the home is even easier than before when you get started with the Energy RC-Micro 5-Pack Home Theater System which comes in a good looking package that will blend in with just about any dcor. There are four high gloss speakers to create the surround sound you love, and it delivers real life performance from games or movies alike. This brings even more satisfaction from your sound system.

One thing that some users like about this one is that you may not have to buy a new subwoofer if you just calibrate this unit with your old one. However, it may take a separate sub for bass if you want to create wall shaking sound. Some people have found that they have problems getting this one mounted to the walls since the keyhole is tight and shallow and the extension pins are rendered useless. Other than that, many people like this home entertainment system.

Sony BDV-T58 3D Home Theater System supplies 5.1 channel HD surround sound that is unbelievable, and provides a Blu-ray experience for a great movie watching experience. This one will even allow you to stream an endless supply of entertainment right online, from your iPhone or iPod and enjoy whenever you like. The Netflix interface is a great plus and in most instances it provides great sound with fully integrated bass for harmonious listening pleasure. Using the color coded, plug and play set up there is no reason to be concerned that it will not be ready to add to your listening pleasure in no time at all.

One cannot expect that any electronic device will come with no problems at all though, so here are a few to mull over before buying this one. With this one, there have been some complaints that Youtube doesn’t load quickly, and the audio can cut out and the system freeze up when you are making corrections. Some people are distressed by the white light that comes on at the front of the unit, and the display is on the top instead of the front which makes seeing it from a distance impossible.

The RCA RT2911 Home Theater System is another option that should be explored before deciding to purchase that next great home entertainment system. This one has 1000 watts of power all wrapped up in 5.1 Dolby to give you great sound when viewing movies or while you are listening to music. It is designed to work with Blu-ray players and provides amazing audio and HDMI videos all while using your TV.

It comes at a great price, but this is fully understood once it has been installed. It does not come with a manual to help you understand how to configure it correctly, and for that reason you may get better sound quality from your TV. There are some problems with the remote working right and to get one that does you will have to spend extra for a new one.

The wise thing to do is to research before buying any electronics you wish to add to a home theater system.

The Yamaha YHT-797 Home Theater System will allow you to step up the power of your home entertainment system and provide simple operations along with a free Yamaha AV Controller App for greater versatility. It is ready to address the future with its sophisticated technology that consumes 20% less power than its predecessors. Could anything be better for those wishing to go green?

While some people may find it difficult to learn to operate this one, it is certainly easy to get all set up. You get great sound no matter what level volume you are listening to, and the 10 inch subwoofer just adds to that. Don’t expect this one to have WIFI already installed, but you can access the Internet by hooking it up with an Ethernet that can be purchased from Yamaha at a price. While you might expect that for $700 you would be getting this as part of the package, that is far from the case.

If you are looking to complete your home entertainment system for a premium experience from your own theater, the Sony BDV-E780W Home Entertainment System may be something you should consider. You can stream all your music and movies wirelessly and enjoy surround sound all at the same time. The 3D Blu-ray Disc features brings your movies to life.

The appearance of your home will be enhanced with the sleek look and glossy black finish that come with sensory buttons that do not overwhelm. Onscreen display takes up very little viewing area with most of the displays right on the screen of your TV. This system is easy to install and has color coded cables along with instructions to help as you go through the entire process. With the self calibrating microphone you know that you will get quality sound every time. Users must be aware though that some of these tend to get a little unruly with owners, but Sony has the reputation for replacing those that seem to take on a mind of their own.

The Pyle Home PHST96IPGL 30-Pin Dock Tower may be just the way to give your family the experience of home entertainment they need without you having to shell out a lot of dough for it. The wood cabinet makes this a great addition to any home. You can even dock your iPhone or iPod to this system so that you can listen to music and the remote allows you to make adjustments without having to touch the unit.

While you may not get the roof rattling quality that comes with other models, your neighbors may just get to enjoy your music anyway. Just be aware that some of them may not be as pleased as others if you are not careful. Apartment dwellers are the ones that will notice this most. With the price just above $150, you might not have thought this possible.

These are some of your choices in home entertainment and surround sound, but there are certainly others that you might want to examine as well.

Caring for the Earth is the responsibility of every single one of us. There are many different types of green energy available, we just have to make use of them. What are ways that you can be more green on a day-to-day basis? Read on and learn more.

Think about getting solar powered lamps for outdoor lighting. They are not only affordable, but they do not have to be hooked up to any power source, needing only good access to sunlight. This will save a lot of energy. It means that there is no need to run wires outside to hook up lights.

Find an experienced, knowledgeable professional to help you. Before you decide to spend your money on an alternative energy system, do your homework and learn as much as you can about it, and determine if you will actually be saving money with it. Avoid shady salesmen who will use unscrupulous tactics to sell systems they can’t prove are efficient.

One easy way to go green is to use an on-demand water heater. Traditional water heaters heat water all day long, even when hot water is not needed; this wastes energy. The water heaters that heat on-demand only heat water that is immediatly needed and save a lot on energy costs.

Take the initiative to bump the thermostat by five degrees during the summer. Doing so will save around 20% on your utility bill. To aid in cooling off your home, try running fans instead of the air conditioner to lower your costs.

Research solar panels to see if an active or passive set-up is right for your needs. Active power is stored for use at a later time, passive does not require expensive cells to store the power. To use active power it requires mechanical systems, solar panels and cells. Passive is just used via the sun for storing the thermal energy in the walls of your home to heat it.

You can conserve energy by shading your windows from sunlight. Another suggestion for window treatments is installing curtains or blinds. Utilizing both of these methods will decrease you need for an air conditioner unit, since your home will not be as warm. You will save money and energy at the same time.

In summer, set the air conditioner at least five degrees warmer. This can provide a 20 percent savings on the costs of cooling your home. You can make your home cooler by turning on the fans instead of the air conditioner.

Check out all the different resources your community has available for energy. Compare costs, and keep in mind that new legislation exists which will sometimes reward you for using renewable energy sources. It might be good to switch to natural gas or well water, as an example.

Save electricity expenses by taking your laptop battery out and using A/C current when you are stationary. Even when the battery is full, it uses power, and removing it while the laptop remains plugged in will save you energy and also lengthen the life of the battery as well.

Consider carpooling for different occasions to save on fuel costs. If you have children, organize a carpooling system with your neighbors and trade off driving days among all the participating parents. If you live close to family or friends, carpool for grocery shopping or other errands to save gas.

The venerable habit of turning of unnecessary lights when leaving a room is still very effective. It’s surprising how much energy is conserved after turning the lights off. You also will be saving money when it comes to your power bill.

During the summer months, think about using the heat from the sun to dry your clothes instead of utilizing a dryer. In addition to the energy savings, you clothes will smell incredible. They will smell better than anything coming out of a dryer. This will save you a ton on your utility bills, leaving you extra money to turn your air conditioning on instead.

Simple tips and Techniques to make Green Energy work for you

Sunday, December 2nd, 2012

Like others, you probably do not give the environment much thought as you use certain items in your home. It may be hard to believe, but even using small appliances has a large cumulative impact on the environment. There are some simple ways to use green energy that will help your home and the environment. The following tips will give you an idea of how to use green energy.

Use solar energy to provide hot water cheaply. Check into investing in a water system that is solar-powered. There are both direct and indirect circulation options to choose from. If frozen pipes are common in your area, an indirect water heater will be your best option.

There are active and passive options for solar energy systems. When it comes to active power, the energy is stored for later use, while passive doesn’t need expensive cells in order to store power. Active power uses solar panels, cells and mechanical systems. Passive solar power uses the heat of the sun to hold thermal energy within your home.

Switch to water heating systems that use solar power to heat hot tubs, pools and indoor water. This is also a very efficient way to heat water and keep it at the proper temperature. By doing certain upgrades to your home, you can often earn extra incentives and even cut backs on your energy bill.

Save electricity expenses by taking your laptop battery out and using A/C current when you are stationary. If the battery is fully charged, it leaks energy. Removing it when you plug your computer into the wall can save a bit of energy and lengthen the battery’s lifespan, as well.

Be sure to learn more about passive and active solar power. When it comes to active power, the energy is stored for later use, while passive doesn’t need expensive cells in order to store power. Active power is about using solar panels, cells and other installations. Passive solar power, on the other hand, just draws heat from the sun and stores it in your walls for heating purposes.

Use the oven light while cooking to save energy. By using the light to check your food instead of opening the door, you can conserve energy because you aren’t allowing heat to escape.

Make your home greener by prioritizing the responsible usage of lighting. During times of the year when the days are longer, keep light usage to certain times of the day. Dimmer switches, timers and sensors that are used to reduce light and automatically turn off lights once you leave a room are important changes to incorporate in your home to reduce energy.

Frequently check the condition of the seal on your refrigerator and freezer doors. A broken seal can cause your refrigerator to run unnecessarily, wasting energy and hurting your pocketbook at the same time. You can determine if you need to replace your seal by inserting one sheet of paper in the door jam. If it slides out too easily, your seal is not up to par.

Monitor how many watts you’re using. Choose an energy monitor like the Kill-A-Watt or the Watt Minder to help you determine which devices and appliances consume the most energy. When you plug an electrical appliance into the monitor, it displays how much energy it requires each hour, month, or year. With that information, you will be able to calculate how much that appliance costs to operate.

Set the thermostat five degrees warmer in the summer to save energy. This could cut your energy bill by almost 20%. Running fans will use less electricity than the air conditioning, for example.

Switch your boiler to save more energy. Previously, boilers were no made to be energy efficient; however, now they are. They have two advantages: reducing your energy bill by a large amount, and producing a lesser amount of CO2, which is much more healthy.

If you cannot get a renewable energy source, like solar energy, to provide power to your entire home, try seeing if you can get it installed to power some of your home. For instance, you may purchase enough panels to heat your home’s water.
