Avoid Sun Burn this Spring Break

Spring Break is just around the corner, are you ready? While many are hitting the beaches, partying or even going snowboarding, you might have different ideas. If you attend an online school then how about taking an online spring break? What that look like? Here is an idea.

Online videos games could make a great break, but not just any, specifically a MMORPG, like World of Warcraft. While many hit the beaches of San Diego, you could hit the sunny, tropical beaches of Stranglethorn Vale, just watch out for the Murlocs and Trolls!

It’s party time in those high level instances. Go brave the cold North and check out the Halls of Reflection. Who says you have to go out to have fun? Best of all, staying in, you won’t have to worry about sunscreen or designated drivers!

WoW isn’t your only option though. For something more futuristic try out the Old Republic. This gane brings the old Star Wars world to your computer. If school has got you down, why not stray to the dark side? Blow up a planet, electric shock somebody just because you can. Or if you prefer, watch the moon set on the peaceful planet of Alderran.

There are plenty of other online options. Dominate the course of World History with the Age of Empires series. You can even succeed where Napoleon failed, all while learning about 19th century Europe. If you prefer consoles, pop in Call of Duty Black Ops, it is filled with Vietnam and Cold War history as well. At Trident Online College you will earn a degree you will love.

So see? No need to even step outside this Spring Break. Why worry about sunburn and crowded beaches when you could be storming the beaches of Normandy on World War 2 online. Who knew online gaming could be so educational. Now if only you could count it as credit.

Life in College

College students are notorious for moving around to different living place. One thing you must decide upon is do you live in a dorm or off campus? This simple decision may not seem so simple, and it can make or break your time at school. Here are some pros and cons of living in a dorm.

Living right on campus is the best part about staying in dorms. This means you can save on gas and parking. It also means you don’t have to leave for class as early as you normally would and you can get that extra bit of sleep. In fact, you can walk to the library to study and you will probably have a meal plan for a cafeteria you can walk too as well. It’s good exercise as well.

Dorms are a great place to make friends, the kind that might last all the way through college. There are people everywhere that you see on a regular basis. Many have game rooms with pool tables, air hockey and other games to play. You can usually pick up some board game action as well. Resident Assistants are always planning parties and games to help you get to know people.

One downside to dorms is having to live with a roommate. You often don’t have a lot of say in who you room with and you might get somebody you like, but you might get somebody you can’t stand. Or somebody with a girlfriend you can’t stand.

Living in a dorm also means living under pre-established rules. RA’s can make great friends, but they can also make great killjoys. They will enforce curfews and rules about pets, alcohol, electric appliances and any other issues you may have. If you live off campus, you can generally do what you want and set your own rules as you see fit. If you like your freedom a dorm may not be the best place for you.

Another great thing about living off campus is that you can usually pick your roommates. If you have friends you want to live with you can all get a place together. If you do not want to share a room, you can have your own space. It’s definitely more freedom then the dorms provide.

One down side of living away from campus is that you have to commute to your classes. This means leaving early to account for drive time and time to park and walk to class. This also means you will have to pay for gas and even worse, a parking permit, which will probably be at the very least a couple hundred dollars.
