Tungsten Rings Are Not Worth The Pain

Tungsten products have been revealed to be made of material that can easily be broken when put in the wrong spot. This is something that is publicized by jewelers of being made of “quality material” when in reality they are just scamming you to get money in the pockets. Knowing that there are better quality wedding bands out on the market it angers me to see people fall into getting a tungsten ring because they are told it’s of “higher quality” than gold.

First of all tungsten rings are advertised as being very hard and resistive to damage. That is laughable because tungsten carbide is shown to be easily breakable in a number of videos that can easily be found on YouTube. If your tungsten wedding bands break and you were told the opposite by a person who told you it “never breaks” you would be mad and annoyed at the person who sold you the ring.

If you are deciding on something to get for a wedding ring, why would you even discuss Tungsten since it can shatter like glass if you drop it? Imagine it’s your wedding day and the ring bearer is presenting the bride and groom with your tungsten wedding ring when all of a sudden he accidentally trips and the rings break in half. It will result in a panic among your guests at the wedding because you will have no rings to wed the bride and groom.

Knowing that Tungsten can easily shatter, how do companies and jewelers continue to make these inferior products charging customers a ransom? It just leads you to go and have to pay money to someone to fix the ring but because it’s Tungsten if it breaks again you are going to have to keep paying to constantly fix your broken ring.

It is not worth it in my opinion to attain a tungsten wedding band. Taking all the criticisms people have about tungsten into account, it is not a hazard you and your significant other should take before you walk down the aisle. The high prices that jewelers and companies request for tungsten are just insane. Personally I would not be charged for a tungsten ring if I saw it at goodwill for a dollar. The bad craftsmanship and the inferior quality of a tungsten ring for their price are just unbelievable to me. Other metals like gold and platinum are materials to endorse for your wedding ring since they have been proven to be long lasting when faced with heavy damage.

A wedding is an celebration that should be made to be cherished by the two whom have made the decision to commit to one another, ’till death do them part’. The general idea behind the ring is to symbolize this lifelong commitment; exactly why many seal their engagement with tungsten rings! Tungsten wedding bands promote as an unbreakable and durable ring that will fulfill just such a wish, however, sadly this is far from the fact. Men’s tungsten wedding bands, as well as women’s, offer a pathetic attempt at symbolizing the unbreakable bond of marriage.

Many jewelers advertise the tungsten wedding bands very deceivingly, reminding you on how it will last a lifetime, how it is scratch resistant, and even stress the tungsten rings hardness. The issue here is that the ring is so hard, that it is in fact brittle, and can break under a plethora of conditions, sometimes even snapping into two pieces! The main issue is that you wouldn’t want a tungsten ring for a woman’s big day, as it lacks attractive stones, making it rather gaudy. Men’s tungsten wedding bands on the other hand may serve a more masculine solution, but for men who are often more inclined to bang up their hands with physical labor, an easily breakable adornment simply won’t do!

On our honeymoon, my wife and I took a trip to Florida to enjoy a change in climate and the warmer weather over the winter! While there we took a trip to Disney theme parks, but much to my surprise while on one of the roller coasters, we hit a bump, tapping my ring finger into the metal security rail and snapping my tungsten band into pieces! Tungsten is overall a poor choice of material to use for a ring. Due to its structure, it doesn’t act like common ring metals like silver or gold, and thus cannot be expanded or shrunk if your fingers change in diameter over the course of your life! If you gain or lose weight at some point, you’ll prone to end up having to get a whole new ring. Even more of a risk, if you come across an accident and the ring needs to be removed in an emergency, you are more likely to come into danger removing it through force, as it cannot be taken off with traditional methods. What a hassle!

Take it from this newlywed, tungsten isn’t all it’s cracked up to be; pun completely intended. Take your important day, and the time you spend with your special someone, seriously . Invest into a real ring, rather than blowing your money on a tungsten mistake. Every day more victims of tungsten’s poor composition pop up, sharing their distaste with brides and husbands to be. How long will it take for the dealers to hone up to the liability their product presents!
